I blame Sophie Milner for this. If I hadn’t of stumbled on to her instagram account one life-changing evening a few weeks ago I would have been content living my lack of effort fashion-less life. But for better or worse, I saw her photo in my insta explore section and was immediately hooked. Over the knee boots? Check. Insanely gorgeous tartan pinafore dress? Check. Incredible hair and big furry coats to boot? BLOODY CHECK. Oh yes my dear makeup lovers, something has changed and now all I that I’ve been dreaming about of late is clothes.
With Autumn on the horizon it’s time I needed to update my threads. To be honest with you all I have been hoarding on to clothes that just haven’t fit me in too long in the hopes of fitting back into them next season. But after I don’t know how many seasons of denial it’s finally time to admit defeat and pack them away to make room for some new threads that will actually look flattering on me.
With minimal income at the moment – studying and all that jargon – I need to keep cost on my mind when looking for clothes and make sure that they can be mixed and matched for different looks for all different occasions. Obvs H&M was my first choice and thank heavens they did not disappoint. I well &truly got the fashion fix that my fashion slave slaver heart was after.
I mentioned in my latest fashion wish list (link here) that I really want to start wearing pants and trousers a lot more as opposed to denim every day. They’re just so versatile for work or to add cred to a really basic outfit. An investment if you will.
The first pair that I got from H&M were these to die for grey check trousers that are cinched in at the high waist with a cute little buckle detailing. They’re super simple and comfortable plus the quality feels really good!
The second pair that I picked up are more of a casual look – I think I might run the risk of them looking like pyjama bottoms but I think they could also work for a casual yet stylish look with a basic Tee and coat. The fabric on these are wafer thin so nude panties are a must. Did I just say panties? Oh god, why do I cringe so much when I hear that word?! Anyway, back to what I was saying… They are a thin satin finish with the cutest little polka dots that you could almost miss if you weren’t looking at it closely. A happy purchase indeed, I can’t wait for all the cosy days in with these pants!
I actually only picked up one top while I adventuring through the H&M clothing racks. I have a few cami’s and basic white tee’s that would go with most things anyway so it wasn’t something that was majorly on my wishlist but when I saw this cute af slogan T with little pearls all over it I just had to pick it up. Imagine this half tucked into a pair of jeans with the tweed blazer and baker boy hat! Or this half tucked into my check trousers with a pair of sneakers? Ugh all the yes to this!
//JUMPERS & COATS//
Holy sh*t balls I’m excited for sweater weather. You have no idea. Taking inspo from pretty much every single fashion chick in the game I wanted to get something that would a) be cute b) be cozy and warm and c) look amazing untucked or tucked into a skirt. Guys, the sweater range this year at H&M is top-notch. Really.
One of these – the green alien looking one – I’m not 100% on. Part of me loves it and another part of me loathes it, but that could just be because I’m new to experimenting with different styles that aren’t basic and plain. We shall see. It’s incredibly comfortable and warm though! The white one with sequins was an obvious no brainer though. This will be SO easy to pair with anything and it is the warmest jumper I think I own. Imagine this tucked into a cute faux leather mini with boots and maybe some tights. Dead.
Finally I knew I wanted a blazer style coat – perfect for the office or to dress up a pair of jeans and a slogan tee, so I got this faux tweed look one! I really like the way it looks and the material isn’t scratchy like I initially thought it would be.
Okay so this one was definitely an impulse buy and I really don’t know how I feel about it. Yes, I got myself a bowler hat. Oh God. I’m half cringing to myself. You see, I had just gone to see ‘The Darkest Hour’ – which is fab by the way – the night before plus mum had been talking about Winston Churchill all day, and…. well…. okay, I really don’t have a valid excuse for this but I’m determined to make a look out of it. Hopefully.
The baker boy hats however need no explanation. Super on trend. Super cute. They will jazz up any outfit.
So that’s everything that I picked up from H&M. I’m really happy with all of my purchases because I think that they are pieces that can be mixed and matched and worn casually or done up!
Until next time,
Love, Angela xx.
