My Makeup Collection: Eyeshadow Palettes.

My Makeup Collection: Eyeshadow Palettes.

Two years ago I never wore eyeshadow. It was way to daunting and intimidating. Fast forward to now and I can’t do a makeup look without it.
Maybe it’s because I like art or maybe it’s because I love the way that you can change an entire look with just eyeshadow, but it’s definitely become my guilty please in the makeup world, so here are my eyeshadow palettes!

High End Eyeshadow Palettes.

Ciate London Pretty, Fun & Fearless Palette

Chloe Morello’s collaboration with Ciate London, The Pretty, Fun & Fearless palette, is one of my faves in my collection. In fact, I might be so bold to say that it is in my top three along with my Jaclyn Hill palette & my Modern Renaissance palette, but we’ll get to those later.

Firstly, let’s talk packaging. It’s crazy, fun, cute & practical with an generous sized mirror and cute flamingo prints all over the cover. This palette consists of 15 eyeshadows with a healthy mix of mattes & shimmers, browns and blues; and gorgeous champagnes and golds to really let you complete a really nice daytime look or a sophisticated night time look.

‘Unconditional’, ‘Dainty’ & ‘Vacay’ are the stars of the palette for me – go figure. The blend nicely with very little fall out and a lovely amount of pigmentation that is generous yet forgiving.

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette

I think I purchased this palette just after Christmas in 2016 for obvs reasons – I mean look at the gorgeous purple/cranberry shade ‘Warm Notes’ – but for some reason it’s just found it’s way to the back on my makeup drawers and I haven’t really used it in a while.

The shimmers are very finely milled which is a big plus for me because I hate chunky glitters and the blend-ability is rather good too. I’m going to make sure to use this a little more in the coming Autumn or when I head out to the pub next.

Urban Decay Naked 3

Once regarded as the IT palettes, the Urban Decay naked collection just aren’t THAT great in my opinion. The colours almost run the risk of being too pink for me but the few brown shades save you from looking like a pre-pubescent barbie.

Quality is average, packaging is meh. It’s not terrible, just not worth the price point.

Chi Chi Spices Eyeshadow Palettes - Love, Angela

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

No words for this palette. It’s perfect.
The quality is out of this world, pigmentation is f*cking unbelievable and the shades are so sexy it hurts.
Well worth the money, and well worth the hype surrounding it.

Just be wary of the kickback that these shadows have and go in with a very light hand for the best results. Here’s a recent tutorial using the palette if you fancy some inspo -> Click Here! .

ABH Modern Renaissance - Love, Angela

Urban Decay Vice Palette

Big, bold and kinda cray were my initial thoughts when I purchased this palette. TBH times have changed and i’ve definitely out grown it. A creative and out there gal would appreciate this palette more than I do these days, but as my collection has grown i’ve found formulas that I prefer and a more distinct style that I tend to go for.

Too Faced Love Palette

Gifted to me on my 21st birthday from one of my friends at the time, the Too Faced Love palette consists of 15 eyeshadows that are separated into three 5quads – Yessss I know a quad is four but I can’t think of a better way to describe how they’re set out haha #nojudgingpls.

If I’m totally honest with you the packaging for this palette is a little tacky for my liking – think pre-teen St. Trinians stage – and even though there are 15 eyeshadows only three of them are mattes. Yikes.

Quality wise the shadows themselves are aces and pineapples and the colour scheme is gorgeous. I just wish there were a few more mattes and transition shades so that I only need to use the one palette when I’m doing my makeup.

Affordable Eyeshadow Palettes.

Sportsgirl Eye Like It Palette

My very first eyeshadow palette! Haha the good old days when I was freshly 18 and heading down to flanagans every Thursday night. Let’s not forget the stark white that we would all put on the inner corner of our eyes with white eyeliner. Oh god, i’m suffering from embarrassment just from thinking about it. HOWEVER, I can’t speak for all of Sportsgirl’s eyeshadow palettes, but this one is freaaaaking bomb for the price point and it was the perfect first eyeshadow palette a young girl could ask for!

Aw i’m feeling so nostalgic just writing about this – maybe i’ll do a throwback look with this tomorrow. I think I actually prefer the quality and formula of these shadows compared to my urban decay ones. Yep, I went there.

Chi Chi Spices Palette

The ultimate drugstore dupe for the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette. In fact, that’s exactly why I purchased this bad boy. Here’s a side by side comparison of the two.

The quality of the shadows in this palette is pretty decent for the price point, although you do definitely need to build up each colour to get a really good payoff; plus it’s super affordable – I picked mine up at Myers!

Morphe Eyeshadow Palettes.

Morphe 35O

I totally had to create a separate little section for my Morphe eyeshadow palettes, because even though the palettes themselves are quite affordable, the shipping prices to Australia are something of a world wold controversy. You can literally pay double just to get it shipped here which is outrageous if you ask me. Thank god for beauty bay because if you buy through there the shipping is either free (depending on how much you spend) or like a fifth of the price Morphe themselves charge. Nonetheless, this never stopped me from buying their palettes.

The famous Morphe 35O had no choice in becoming part of my collection – with those burnt oranges and warm neautrals it was just bound to find it’s way into my life. Quality is good, pigmentation is generous yet forgiving and the fall out is v minimal which rates it as a good investment in my opinion. Plus honestly, if you every lack imagination with this palette jump on your reader or youtube because literally everyone and their mum has used this so there is bound to be something that tickles your fancy. Unless you’re a cool toned gal – in which case…. stay very far away!

Morphe 35O - Love, Angela

Morphe 35N

Gifted to me from a girlfriend who had never used it, the Morphe 35N is definitely out there for me. I don’t usually work with true purples, greys or blacks but I figured having it in my collection would force me to expand. TBH that hasn’t happened yet but I haven’t given up!

I have had a little play around with it and I do have to say that it isn’t my favourite so far. The eyeshadow formula just seems to feel a whole lot drier and chalkier than my 35O. Not sure if that’s my imagination or what but yeah, I don’t reach for this very often.

Imagine the bomb purple and black smokey eyes with this thoughhhh.

The Jaclyn Hill Palette

I thought I knew a good eyeshadow up until this came along. F*cking LOVE this palette. It’s my go to, every day, every occasion, holy grail eyeshadow palette. Full of reds, cranberries, pinks, champagnes, browns, blues, purples and the most amazing mix of shimmers, mattes, satin & dup-chromes that you’re beauty junkie heart could ever hope for. Once again it is a warm af palette so if you’re into cool tones this probably isn’t as orgasmic to you as it is me, but otherwise I would recomend this to literally everyone.

The range of transition shades is everything, and the pops of colour just inspire me every single time I open it up. The only thing that is going to make me take points off it’s rating is the packaging. I’m all about the white and silver, clean and sophisticated look that it has, but it gets so damn dirty and hard to clean that I do get frustrated. What pissed me off even more was when Jaclyn & Morphe announced that it was going to be released in a hardcover plastic palette a few months after release.

Kind of sucks when you stayed up till 2:30am to order this the very night it was released and to have a better version given to someone who maybe didn’t even care about it until 3 months later. Can you tell i’m a little salty? Just gotta keep it real with you guys. -.5 of a point for me haha.

Jaclyn Hill Palette - Love, Angela

Rating: 9/10

Clearly, I have a very distinct taste in my shade ranges – plenty of browns, reds and warm toned colours are in literally every single eyeshadow palette that I own… Thank god warm colours are on trend at the moment right?!

What are your favourite eyeshadow palettes?

Until next time,

Love, Angela xx.

Haha I think I’m the ONLY blogger in the world who despises warm tones. They look great on everyone else just not a fan for myself so this one isn’t really for me. I love how you rated them all out of 10. You have pretty high standards! Not many of them got good marks. I agree with what you said about the Naked palettes though. I see those as my average benchmark, 5/10 level x

Aw haha I hope I wasn’t too harsh!! I definitely agree though, 5 is my average benchmark. The UD Naked 3 would have got 5 but I think think it’s a little expensive for it’s quality so that’s why it lost half a point haha

PS. Trussst me, you aren’t the only one who doesn’t like warm toned shadows – one of my friends hates them on her too, so she only sticks with cool toned ones 🙂 xx

Your photography is lovely! I’ve always wondered if the naked palettes were worth the money but I now reckon I would buy a morphe palette instead.

    • January 27, 2018 / 4:25 pm

Oh thank you lovely! The Naked palettes aren’t terrible, I just think they’re pretty average for the price point. But then again, just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean someone else won’t love it! Maybe give it a swatch next time you’re in store 🙂

I do really want to try the Naked Heat palette though, I’ve heard nothing but incredible reviews for it!! xx

omg you HAVE to try it! Honestly the quality of the MR is so so sooo amazing & the colours are just gorgeous! Just remember with makeup it doesn’t always matter about how expensive a product is, some drugstore palettes are just as good/if not better than some high end ones! x

All of these palettes are gorgeous!! I would love to try the ABH Modern Rennisance palette – they look lovely shade. Lovely Post!

What a collection you’ve got there! You definitely kept it very real, not matter what the price for the palette was. About the Naked palette I see people either claiming it their favourite one or hating it, no in between ahaha

Oh thank you gorgeous! I always keep it as real as possible whenever I do a review, so it’s nice that it gets noticed 🙂

I totally get what you mean, I don’t love it nor do I hate it. I just think there are so many better options out there for the same price or cheaper haha.

      Thanks for reading lovely! xx
