The world of skin care can be quite intimidating and finding the right routine for your skin can take some time, but finally after what feels like forever I have found products that don’t just work with my skin but they work well together too.
I have experimented with so many different skin care routines and products, some 10 steps long and others 20, but for now my skin has really taken to the whole ‘less is more’ thing and I thought that I would share with you my evening skin care routine!
Step 1: Remove Makeup!
The ever so popular Garnier Micellar cleansing water is such an all round favourite and is a great skin care product to take off the bulk of my makeup. Pouring some onto a little cotton swispers pad, I gently wipe across my face going slowly to make sure that the micellar water gets a chance to work its magic.
Once the bulk of my base makeup has been removed, I take another cotton pad and gently press it on my closed eyes. I let the cotton pad sit against my eye for five seconds or so before I start to wipe away my mascara and eye shadow because I find that if I let it soak into my lashes for a little longer it’s easier to wipe away the bulk of it.
Step 2: Cleanse!
After I have removed the majority of my makeup, I like to cleanse my skin and make sure I get any excess product with my Clinique rinse off foaming cleanser. On a normal night I simply do this with my hands in the shower, but if I have worn a heavy amount of makeup throughout the day I will pick up my Clarisonic Mia 2.
Step 3: Exfoliate!
As a girl with horribly dry skin exfoliators can either be my worst nightmare or my best friend, but alas I have finally found one in particular that is extremely gentle on my skin and doesn’t leave my face feeling like its dying of thirst, the Nivea daily essentials gentle exfoliator scrub! This stuff is amaaaazing! Somehow it manages to do everything that a nice gentle exfoliator should do but also leaves my skin feeling almost hydrated!
I really take my time with this by gently massaging it all over my face as if it were a luxury lotion. I don’t put any pressure on my face while I do this either because the little beads do that for me so i don’t want to put any extra stress on my skin.
Step 3: Mask time! (optional)
Just like my Clarisonic, I tend to only use a mask when I feel like my skin needs it and I switch that up depending on what I think my skin needs on that day in particular. So I won’t give you once specific face mask in particular but a few of my favourites are the Sephora Collection masks such as the Rose or Lotus for hydration, the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask for when my skin is congested and breaking out and also the Neutrogena HydroBoost sheet masks.
Step 4: Oil up baaaby!
I’ve said it before (here) and I’ll say it again, the main star of my evening skin care routine and hands down the one thing that has made such a visible and dramatic improvement to my skin is Rosehip oil. This little bottle of Essano certified organic rosehip oil is like it has been crafted with magic.
I like to use the little dropper and put three or four droplets in between my fingers and massage it all over my face and neck.
Step 4: Lock it in with Moisturiser
Once I have oiled up my face, I let it seep into my skin for a minute or two and I lock it all in with my Essano rosehip night creme. I wasn’t kidding, give me anything with rosehip in it and I will instantly fall head over heals for it!
What are your skin care must haves?
Until next time,
Love, Angela xx.
