Top Ten Christmas Movies!

Top Ten Christmas Movies!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go… Especially in the lounge room, on the couch and on the big screen.

To amp up the Christmas spirit I love to wind down with my partner and watch a Christmas film almost every weekend on the lead up to Christmas.

Here are my Top 10 favourite holiday movies! Let me know what yours are in the comments below!

Love, Angela xo.

  1.  The Holiday.

The holiday is a feel good romantic comedy that follows two women who are going through hard times in their personal life that decide swap houses for the Christmas holidays. Starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black this film never disappointing and always leaves a smile on my face!

  2. Love Actually.

Does this movie really need an explanation? It is a holiday staple for almost everyone! Set in London this movie follows eight different stories of love and heartbreak that are all intertwined in some way or another. An absolute classic.Love-Actually-590x442.jpg

  3. Santa Clause ( 1, 2 & 3)

As a child growing up, I can remember watching these films every year with mum, dad and my little sister all together. Maybe that’s why I love it still so much because it reminds me of my family and being a kid. Its fun, magical and a great all round family film.

  4. The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Not your average Christmas film, Tim Burton takes us into his dark fantasy world that follows Jack Skellington who is bored of his usual Halloween Routine and his attempt to spread Christmas cheer to the boys and girls of the world. As I said, it’s very different – as is all Tim Burton films -and slightly darker yet the message of love and Christmas cheer is just as prominent as is any other Christmas film.

  5. Arthur Christmas!

A new one and a good one! I first saw Arthur Christmas with my nephews and it had them in stitches, and me even more so! It answers every child’s big question of “how does Santa deliver all of the present around the world in one night?”. Following Santa’s son who is awkward and clumsy but with a big heart who is sent with Saint Nick’s old father to deliver a young girls Christmas present in only an hour or so! It’s very funny, witty and in my opinion is already marked itself off as a classic.

  6. ELF!

Will Farrell isn’t my favourite actor in the world but he makes the perfect 6ft human who was raised as an elf in the North Pole! On a mission to find his real father and family, Elf goes through a journey in New York and ultimately finds himself. It’s loud, full on and a perfect film to get you excited for Christmas!

  7. Die Hard

In my books Bruce Willis can do no wrong. This isn’t your average Christmas movie but I love it! Ex cop John McClane (Willis) is visiting his two daughters and estranged wife on Christmas eve takes on 12 criminals who take a building in Los Angeles under siege. Action Packed and something to watch if your man isn’t interested in the more cliché holiday films.

  8. How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Jim Carrey is completely unrecognisable as the Grinch, who is hellbent on ruining Christmas for all in Whoville. Fun loving, and about learning to love yourself and to forgive others, this is watched every year!

  9.  Jamie’s Night Before Christmas Special.

    Yes, Jamie Oliver. The Chef.
Surely this doesn’t count as a Christmas flick, but hey, my blog my rules right? I absolutely love his shows in general and have all of his cookbooks but this Christmas special is just fantastic! A must watch for any food lovers out there!

  10. Fred Clause

Saint Nick’s brother Fred lands himself in a lot of trouble and is forced to move to the North Pole and work off his debts by working and making toys for Christmas! I liked that they expanded Santa’s family to include a brother and adding that sibling rivalry that we can all relate to in some way.
